My work primarily consists of sculptural pieces that explore the symbiotic relationship between humanity and nature. Through my work, I aim to evoke a sense of memory and nostalgia. For example, an old stone structure that once had a functional purpose now only has a memory of what it once was and what it now has become, an involuntary piece of art. I am fascinated by how ceramics can blend both function and aesthetics, and I love that this medium allows me to explore these dualities. When I’m not hand building, I produce functional pottery. I study organic mug and vase forms and play with mark-making surface designs. My functional work aims to provoke a whimsical feeling of childhood nostalgia through child-like doodles and patterns.
